When should you see an orthopaedic or trauma specialist?
With musculoskeletal problems it is not worth waiting until pain or limited movement seriously affects your daily life. Many orthopaedic and trauma conditions can be recognised early and treated effectively with the right care.
The specialists of Pallas Orthopaedics examine and treat a wide range of musculoskeletal diseases, injuries and joint complaints. It is worth seeing a specialist, among other things, in case of:
- persistent or recurring knee pain,
- shoulder pain or limited shoulder movement,
- hip, ankle, elbow or hand pain,
- joint wear and cartilage wear,
- sports injuries, and ligament and tendon injuries,
- hand numbness, carpal tunnel syndrome or trigger finger,
- joint swelling or inflammation,
- limited movement and joint stiffness,
- a feeling of instability or recurring joint problems,
- fractures, dislocations and other injuries,
- paediatric orthopaedic conditions and foot deformities.
Regular check-ups can be especially important after previous sports injuries, with chronic musculoskeletal complaints, joint wear, or developmental or growth abnormalities noticed in childhood.
An accurate diagnosis helps decide whether conservative treatment, injection therapy, rehabilitation or, if needed, surgery is the right way forward. Based on the examination results and the patient’s condition, our specialists put together a personalised treatment plan.

Frequently asked questions
When should I see an orthopaedic specialist?
It is worth getting an orthopaedic examination if you have persistent or recurring joint, bone or muscle pain, limited movement, joint stiffness, instability or deformity. A specialist examination is also justified after sports injuries, for complaints left over from earlier injuries, and for gradually worsening musculoskeletal problems.
What is the difference between orthopaedics and traumatology?
Orthopaedics mainly deals with diseases of the musculoskeletal system, wear-related changes, developmental abnormalities and long-standing complaints. Traumatology specialises mainly in injuries such as fractures, dislocations, and ligament and tendon injuries.
What problems does Pallas Orthopaedics deal with?
Our specialists examine and treat, among other things, knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, elbow and hand complaints, sports injuries, joint wear, ligament and tendon injuries, hand surgery problems and paediatric orthopaedic conditions.
What treatments are available at Pallas Orthopaedics?
Besides specialist examinations, we offer diagnostic tests, injection treatments, hand surgery procedures, arthroscopic and other orthopaedic operations, wound care, follow-up examinations and rehabilitation.
Does every orthopaedic problem need surgery?
No. Many musculoskeletal complaints can also be treated without surgery. The right therapy depends on the cause and severity of the problem, the test results, and the patient’s age and general condition.
When may orthopaedic surgery be needed?
Surgery may come into question if the complaint significantly reduces quality of life, causes lasting pain or limited movement, or if conservative treatments have not given adequate results. A surgical recommendation is always based on a specialist examination.
Do you treat sports injuries?
Yes. The specialists of Pallas Orthopaedics examine and treat sports injuries, including joint, ligament, tendon and other musculoskeletal injuries.
