Tendon operations are the surgical treatment of various conditions of the tendons and tendon sheaths. Their aim is to reduce pain and to restore normal limb function. Below are the main tendon procedures offered by Pallas Orthopaedics.
Tenotomy
A surgical procedure used when tendons are overly tense or injured. By dividing or lengthening the affected tendon, we restore the optimal function of the muscle–tendon unit. The procedure helps reduce pain and improve the range of motion.
Tennis elbow surgery
Tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis) causes pain on the outer side of the elbow, resulting from overuse of the extensor muscles of the forearm. If conservative treatments do not work, we surgically release the affected tendons, which relieves the pain and restores normal function of the elbow.
Trigger finger surgery
Trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis) causes a clicking feeling and pain when the fingers bend and straighten, because the tendon sheath has narrowed. During the operation we release the affected tendon sheath so the tendon can move freely, which relieves the symptoms and restores normal function of the finger.
With these procedures our goal is for our patients to regain full function of their limbs and pain-free movement. In every case we carry out a detailed consultation and a thorough examination to choose the most suitable treatment method.
